At first I was just like, it’s cool you remember Alaska that well. Then I kept reading.. guess it’s not cool you remember that particular cabin that well 😅
I believe this. Interesting age. My cousin and me had some strange things happen, not quite like this. I think the age is a factor worth considering, tho.
It’s a cool story. Really liked this sentence:
A handful of worn VHS movies under an old tube TV, played for nobody while knitting needles snipped the silence into little bits.
Indeed, I didn’t change any details save for the setup — made it more fiction sounding. But the “encounter” and everything happened exactly like that. I remember it well lol
The image of something totally motionless in the dark looking back at you is very primal and creepy. Reminds me of Raymond Andrew Joubert in Stephen King's book Gerald's Game.
One of the few books that I had to set down at one point because the description was overwhelming me. A really good book, though. Not bleak, but intense.
Very dope shit here. Some of the flash imagery adds so much to your overall writing style. It’s distinct and this read was chilling, like I had to stay still too. Loved the part where everyone goes to bed for some reason — like the way I saw it just drew me in even more.

I remember the whole thing quite vividly, and I only changed minor details for the story
That’s crazy. I’d say cool but that doesn’t quite fit here

I guessed at the age, but I was dead on when I checked later. I think it probably is a factor. Thanks for the comment ( : I liked that line too
Wow is this a real story? Creepy!

Soooo creepy. that biting horror of the thing crawling into the room. i know exactly that type of horror from my own childhood imaginings.
you captured it brilliantly well!
Thanks, Nick!
This is a disturbing read. So well written. The tricks our minds play on us, or not.
Thank you thank you — it was definitely a disturbing event, and I have Sean McDonnell to thank for helping me hone it.
Fuuuuuck
I’m getting worse at giving compliments, clearly.
This is really good.
Haha I got the memo! Thank ye kindly🤠👉

I haven’t read that one yet, but I might. Ive seen it referenced a few times but also heard it is fairly bleak

I shall read it then, and if I think of it, I’ll message you
There’s a good movie adaptation by Mike Flanagan as well.

Thank you very much! ( : I did my best to capture the vibe of that childhood fear of dark corners and such
You definitely did!
This is so effing good. My knees are under my chin right now, for reals.
